The Water Bowl offers on-site training in private sessions and group classes, as well as in-home private training.

Our trainer's approach starts from the inside out, with attention to good health, diet and exercise for the dog. The training is based on effective communication and reinforcement methods tailored to fit each individual dog's needs, while pet owners become more informed about healthy pet relationships and behavioral traits.

Private classes and consultations are available by appointment. Group classes are scheduled throughout the year, held on a Wednesday or Friday evening.

Puppy Obedience – six weeks/one hour per week
For puppies from two to six months of age, this class covers the basics and then some. Topics include: "sit", "down", "come", and "stay," plus housebreaking, nipping, biting, destructive chewing, proper socialization, structure, communication, leash and house manners.

Basic Obedience – six weeks/one hour per week
For dogs six months of age and older, this class is suited for beginners in obedience training or for those who need to improve their skills. Dogs will learn "sit", "down", "stay", "come" and "heel" and basic manners such as "off" and "leave it".

Advanced Training – six weeks/one hour per week
Prerequisite: Basic Obedience graduation This class offers more advanced and controlled training and reinforces the basics. Your dog will learn to accept friendly strangers, politely sit for petting, cooperate for grooming and examinations, and walk nicely through crowds, as well as learn appropriate reactions to other dogs and distractions. This training will prepare your canine companion for the Canine Good Citizen Program offered through AKC.

Leash Training – four weeks/one hour per week
This class works on basic leash skills, covers the many different training tools available and determines the type of collar and leash that will work best for you and your dog. We practice walking skills out in public in order to tackle any problems that may come up.

In-Home Training:
Puppy and Adult Basic Obedience • Advanced Training • Behavior Modification
This option offers the opportunity to have lessons in the comfort of your own home in a program customized to your dog's disposition and temperament. All training is structured around effective reinforcement methods to fit your pet's individual needs. With this option, you can explore real-life situations in and around the home. Family and friends are welcome to join you in your in-home training session with their pooch, too.
